Ewelme ChurchThis website has been set up to provide useful information for Ewelme residents and visitors alike. We hope that it will be of interest to anyone wanting to know more about our beautiful, historic village.

The site is very much a work in progress - it clearly takes quite some time to get all the information from many different sources together - over time more and more information will be presented.

On the left hand side there are many links to various areas and organisations in the village - some do not have content associated with them yet, but show areas where we plan to develop in time.

If you think that there is something missing or a section that you can add to, then please contact us. We will provide links to other sites, if appropriate.

We're working towards making the site easy to edit. Each organisation should be able to create and amend its own materials, so there'll be no excuse for leaving stale material in place, or not adding the latest news.

Right now we're tidying up the Parish Council materials and the Ewelme News. Seriously out of date! It may take a while to get everything updated and in the right places but you will see it evolve asap. So bear with us as your apprentice editors figure out how it is done.

Ewelme Village Shop

E-mail Print PDF

The village shop is now well established and a very sociable rendez vous

We stock most of the basics at prices thoroughly competitive with the big supermarkets, and lots of other items which customers seem to like too. No need to waste fuel going elsewhere! We do splendid teas and coffees, supplemented by succulent sandwiches and tempting cakes.  Details can be found at the website: http://ewelmevillagestore.co.uk.

Water levels

E-mail Print PDF

North Barn's borehole water level was 10.5 m below ground in 2007 and is now 12.5 m - a fall in the water table of 2 m in the past 5 years. The pump is 6 m below that, so we should not run out just yet.

That is a pretty big drop and it's not surprising the stream has dried out. We all need to be aware of the scale of the problem and that it will need sustained rainfall over many months to replace the deficit.

Nolay Close

E-mail Print PDF

Our twin town named one of its new streets "rue de Ewelme" and now, with the completion of the new houses on Ewelme's former dairy site, we have "NOLAY CLOSE". We will gladly introduce our new residents to their counterparts and indulgences in the heart of Burgundy. Pictures will follow.
