Cricket Club – Council had received a letter from Ewelme Cricket Club asking for support towards the wicket preparation and general costs. It was felt that as the pitch preparation cost over £1,000 and we received £100 in rent, it wasn’t viable to continue and the Council had already subsidised the Cricket Club substantially.
Football – Representatives expressed their unhappiness about the increase in hire fees of the Recreation Ground for matches. It was arranged to look into the possibility of cheaper block bookings.
Parish Plan – A grant of £1,908 had been given to fund the plan.
Brian Benson – Neil Blake apologised for not controlling the discussion better prior to Brian Benson’s resignation. There was always a risk of things like this happening if we have meetings where members of the public are allowed to speak but he insisted that open discussion was better than being restrictive as some councils are.
Welcome Pack – Carol Sawbridge wondered if the back page of the Ewelme News could be amended to achieve this.

Apologies: John Lockyer
As it was the Annual Parish Meeting, councillors reported back to Council about the various organisations and groups that they represent.
Block bookings for the Recreation Area – Council decided to form a sub-committee to look into this.
Ewelme Cricket Club – Concern had been expressed about the Council’s decision not to help financially. After discussion it was decided to grant an amount that would cover the preparation of the wicket for this season.
Sports sub-committee – All agreed to form this new sub-committee which would include representatives of all main sports users of the Recreation Area as well as Parish Councillors and the Clerk.
King’s Pool – Des Dix had suggested clearing the floating algae. All agreed that it should be looked at in association with the pool management plan set up some years earlier.
