The Horticultural Society held their annual skittles evening on Saturday 24 February. The Village Hall was full of people whose ages ranged from six to eighty something! Teams of four were arranged on the spot and each team tried to achieve the highest score in order to win the competition. Round one was held before the meal and round two after. During the meal, the 24 children present had their own competition to find out who could knock down the most skittles with three balls. The overall winner was Jack Eccles who won after a play-off against four other finalists. The winning team of four players was Sue and Paul Humphries and Jackie and Dominic Stone who received their limited edition certificates and a bottle of wine each.
The evening appeared to be a great success and it was a real family event full of laughter and good-natured low-tech fun! Members of the committee are to be congratulated for producing an excellent filling meal complete with handfuls of marshmallows for the children! All-in-all a good time was had by every participant and we look forward to welcoming you all back when we do it all again in 2008.
