Illegal Motorbikes

Several villagers have complained about motorbikes using footpaths, bridleways and restricted byways (which were RUPPs) recently. Such usage is illegal and if caught, riders are liable to a maximum £1000 fine. Pedestrians and horse riders have a right to use these routes without the danger posed by such vehicles. Local residents also object to the noise. The County Council is trying to improve the signage to make it clear that these routes are not to be used by motor vehicles.

In the mean time, if you see any vehicles on these routes Thames Valley Police should be contacted on 0845 850 5505. They are working with us and the National Trails team to try and stop the illegal use of the routes by motor vehicles. Making the police aware of all instances of this illegal use builds up a better picture for them so that they can see what the actual problem is. It also enables them to target certain areas. The police can prosecute the offenders as the offence is a road traffic offence.
