Change of Command at RAF Benson
Command of RAF Benson has just passed from Group Captain Duncan Welham, who is leaving the Service after 27 years, to Group Captain Paul Lyall, who joined from HQ STC and will also become the Merlin and Puma Force Commander. The handover ceremony took place in front of the new Station Commander’s car. The Station LEAN team have clearly identified that the Station Commander’s efficiency is proportional to his ability to move quickly around the Station. Group Captain Lyall was pleased to accept the official car pennant but commented that, as he was not sure that the more mature senior visitors would be able to fit in a Lotus, he would be retaining the standard Vectra in reserve.
