Ewelme Village Pre-school has welcomed 6 new children and their families to our ranks this term; all of whom have settled in with incredible speed and ease. We are now almost bursting at the seams but do still have a few available spaces on a couple of days each week. A number of children will be starting school in January and so there will be more spaces available come January.
The children have had a wonderful term so far looking at “people who help us”. We have had visits from a plethora of community-based workers, including the police (accompanied by squad car fully equipped with flashing lights and sirens – apologies to the neighbours!); fire brigade (plenty of dressing up opportunities); lay reader George Cannon and a veterinarian (with willing canine patient, who ended up bandaged by the children almost from head to toe). Our activities prior to half term finished with a look at doctors, nurses, dentists, opticians and people with special needs.
From a fundraising and social perspective, we hosted a particularly successful coffee morning on the 26th September. This raised essential funds for pre school equipment and supplies, whilst allowing those present to eat copious amounts of delicious home-made cakes and make pre-christmas purchases from ‘Usborne’ books, ‘Virgin Vie’ cosmetics, ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ jewellery and ‘Phoenix Trading’ gift cards. A big thank you for all your support.
Much more exciting however, was the annual Halloween Party. On October 31st, the children (in optional fancy dress) took part in a wildly spooky evening of ghoulish fun and games. Undoubtedly the best ever ‘all hallow’s eve’ celebration, the party included our grand annual raffle with some fabulous prizes (including RAF flight simulator experience and dinner for 2 at the Goose).
With Hallowe’en safely behind us, we can now look forward to the build up to Christmas, with the nativity scheduled for 13th December.
Ewelme preschool is open to all children aged from 2½ to 5 years old. We run during term time Monday to Friday from 9.15 to 12.00 noon with extended lunch sessions offered on certain days.
